Project Description
Single Jersey
SINGLE JERSEY IS THE SIMPLEST FORM OF KNITTED FABRIC
Brief
Single Jersey is the simplest form of knitted fabric. It is a straightforward construction using only knit stitches on the face of the fabric.
The crown of the loop will be towards the back of the fabric, and only the two legs will be visible in the form of a ‘V’. A single jersey typically has approximately twice the stretch in the width direction compared to the length direction. Jersey fabrics will curl at the edges. The sides will curl to the back, while the top and bottom edges will curl to the face.
Deliverables
Single jersey is weft-knitted fabric which is formed by one set of needles. Single jersey is the mostly used for making T-shirts in textile. In single jersey face side and back side appearance is different. This fabric is much warm, flexible, stretchy, and wear to comfort therefore gets popularity.

Results
Jersey is relatively easy to care for, but make sure you pay attention to the fibers used in the knit fabric. Cotton jersey has a tendency to shrink, so pre-wash your fabrics before sewing. Wash jersey with cool water and tumble dry on medium. An iron usually isn’t needed as long as you remove your items from the dryer quickly.
